Ossewakop & Scotch Hill
Above the town rises Voortrekkerkop – locally referred to as Ossewakop – and its twin Scotch Hill. People say that this peak, and Scotch Hill, inspired Sir Ryder Haggard, who sometimes stayed in Wakkerstroom in the 1870’s. In his best-selling adventure novel, King Solomon’s Mines, he describes two enormous lava-covered volcanic mountains, called Sheba’s Breasts.

Roller Mill
In full working order.
This mill dates back to 1904 and is the only one of its kind still in operation.

Steam Locomotive
Next to the Town Hall is a steam locomotive, which was placed there to symbolise Wakkerstroom and its development.

Wakkerstroom Kindness Rocks
Wakkerstroom is an active partner with the international Kindness Rocks project, active in over 90 countries with millions of contributors. It is the largest community art project the world has ever seen. Please feel free to place or take rocks and participate as part of our community.
